How We Build

Inside the Utopia workshop

How We Build

Real containers. Hands-on work. A closer look at what goes into a Utopia space.

Come behind the scenes with us. These photos from our builds show the transformation from a steel shell to framed rooms, insulated walls, interior finishes, and transport to your property.

The steel shell

Every transformation starts with the container itself.

07 / From workshop to your property

Delivery to your site

Your Utopia space travels by truck and trailer from our Rochester, NY workshop to your property. Delivery and placement are planned around your model, location, and site access.

Transport by truck and trailer

Loading and unloading

A lowered trailer alongside a Utopia build at the workshop. At your property, the unloading method is chosen for the available space, ground conditions, and final placement.

Before delivery day

We review the delivery address, driveway access, turning space, slopes, overhead obstacles, and room for the truck and unloading equipment. Share site photos early so access can be reviewed before transport is scheduled.

Your site and foundation must be prepared to the project requirements before arrival. Required permits and the responsibilities of your local contractors should be confirmed in advance.

Placement & final connections

Where access allows, a suitable trailer may unload the container directly. Other sites may require a crane or additional equipment to place it on the prepared foundation. The method and scope are confirmed for each project.

After placement, required anchoring, utility connections, any on-site assembly, and local inspections must be completed before use or occupancy.

Delivery, unloading, installation, foundation, utility connections, and site work are reviewed and quoted separately unless expressly included in your proposal. Cost and timing depend on the model, distance, route, site conditions, and equipment required. These photos show transport equipment at our workshop; your delivery setup may differ.

These photos show work in progress across different Utopia builds, rather than one continuous project. Layouts, materials, and finishes vary by project. Open walls and exposed services shown here are construction stages, not finished conditions. Select any photo to view it larger.
